Track Facts

The Twin Ring Motegi racing circuit gets its name from the fact it has two race tracks. The one shown here is the 2.98 mi road course, host to the MotoGP and Superbike World Championship. The other is a 1.549 mi oval Super Speedway. The race track was built in 1997 by Honda who built the oval with the express interest of bringing the IndyCar race series track to Japan. The last IndyCar race at Motegi was in 2011, although the road track had to be used due to damage on the oval track caused by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake!
